Molded Graphite Products Synthesized from Waste-Coal
Sponsor: US Department of Energy
Partner: Touchstone Research Laboratory
Abstract: Touchstone Research Laboratory (Triadelphia, West Virginia) and partner Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) aim to implement the hydrophobic-hydrophilic separation process developed at Virginia Tech for reducing mineral deposits in coal. Research and development will focus on cleaning low-, medium- and high-rank coal and resulting waste coal streams to sufficient levels, making it suitable for feedstock in high-value synthetic graphite processes.
